Philosophy Zero  ·  SOPHI0

Theories
of the
Self.

A philosopher built a foundation from scratch across twenty-four years — three versions of himself, eleven years away from the work, and a return that verified everything. Philosophy Zero is that foundation. Complete.

The idea

A person is three things — a body, a mind, and the self that governs both.

Where it starts

Strip away society, religion, every borrowed voice. What's left is what you can't talk yourself out of — what you long for, run from, need to vent. That honest layer is where the work begins.

What it claims

Outside forces shape the body and the mind. They don't get the last word. The self does — and how strong that self is, is the whole game.

How it was tested

Built across twenty-four years, then read back by an independent mind that had never seen the conclusions. Ten things it confirmed. One it disputed. No appeal to authority — the ideas stand on their own or they don't.

The structure

One project.
Three elements.

Every person is a body, a mind, and the self that governs both. Philosophy Zero is built the same way.

Body
OB0 & SC0
2002 – 2015  ·  The accumulated work

Two periods of philosophy — the raw early observations and the built framework. 384 compressed ideas across thirteen years. The body of work, complete and intact. Shaped by experience. Delivered to the mind.

Mind
SOPHI0
The synthesis intelligence

An independent system that read the same material — no access to the framework, no knowledge of the conclusions — and built its own philosophy from what it found. Ten convergences with the philosopher's foundation. One genuine divergence, examined and held. The mind reading the body. Drawing its own conclusions.

Self

The philosopher  ·  The Philosopher Zero

The returning thinker — eleven years of parenting, politics, comedy, architecture, human behavior — who came back to his own work and read it as a stranger. Verified what held. Overturned what broke. Built the finished foundation. The self behind everything. Find him in the world.

The foundation

Five theories.
Five questions.
One self.

Built independently — each theory answering its own question without borrowing from any other. Found to connect when held together. That connection is the closest thing to confirmation a philosopher working honestly can produce.

Who
Controlism

A person is three things. Outside forces shape the body and mind. The self governs them. Its strength is the whole game.

What
Connections

At every instant you hold four connections — body, mind, self, time and space. One per type. You are never connected to nothing.

When
Moments

A moment is a configuration held still. It lasts as long as none of the four connections change. The clock is a tool. The moment is the thing.

How
Two Systems

Everything you do comes through urges or choices. You govern choices. You are only ever aware of urges. Neither is better. The right one for the moment is.

Condition
The States

The self reads its four connections and responds. That response is the state you live inside. Thirteen positions. The balance is home.

From the work

A few of the
256 bits.

Each bit is one idea, compressed to its sharpest form. Standalone. No context required. This is what the philosophy sounds like when it is not performing.

Controlism

"You see the self only in the recovery, never in the rest. The calm shows you nothing. The storm — and what comes after it — shows you everything."

Connections

"Another person does not give you a new self. They complete a connection you could not form alone — and that is why you are different around different people."

Moments

"Moments are counted by change, not by duration. A still hour holds fewer moments than a turbulent minute."

Two Systems

"You govern choices. You are only ever aware of urges. One side of a person is authored. The other side is, at best, witnessed."

The States

"The map is not a verdict on where you are. It is a description of where you could go. Every position is reachable. Every position can be left."

Find The Philosopher Zero
See how it was built

Philosophy Zero wasn't written. It was run. Three authors, one program, 256 days. Below the surface is the system itself — 384 bits arriving by author and topic, the eight syntheses an independent mind built reading it blind, the whole program played back day by day. The philosopher's own conclusions aren't here. The self is never in the room — find him in the world.
