Keep to My Self: Privacy

Keep to My Self doesn't collect anything. There's no account, no server, no analytics and no tracking.

Keep to My Self is a project of Philosophy Zero; "we" on this page means Philosophy Zero.

What you put in stays with you, unless you put it on a shared board. Your captures, bits, tags and groups are stored on your phone. If you keep things in iCloud, they're also stored in your own iCloud, under Apple's terms. If you choose This phone only (Menu → Storage → Where it's kept), nothing goes to iCloud. If iCloud is off or full, what you write is saved on your phone first, so nothing is lost. We can't see any of it.

Shared boards. Alongside your own board, you can share a board with up to five people you invite. Only the board's owner can invite. Sharing works through Apple's iCloud sharing, under Apple's terms. Everyone on a shared board can see and do everything on it: add, edit, set aside and delete forever. Each bit shows who wrote it. Sending a copy of a capture to a shared board shares that copy with everyone on it. When you send a copy from a shared board to your own, only the bits you wrote come with it. If sharing ends, because someone leaves or the owner stops sharing, each person keeps a copy of what was on it. We can't see shared boards either.

Ask uses Apple's on-device AI. What you ask, and the bits it reads, stay on your phone.

Siri and Shortcuts work through Apple, under Apple's terms.

Links. To show a capture's card, your phone fetches the link's title and picture directly from that website. Spotify players and YouTube pictures load straight from Spotify and YouTube when you see them. Keep to My Self is never in between, and we receive nothing. When you open a link, it opens in its own app, which has its own policy.

The only other company involved is Apple. iCloud, iCloud sharing, Siri, Shortcuts and the on-device AI are Apple's. Keep to My Self has no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking components. If you've turned on Share With App Developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may share crash reports with app developers, including us. That's your setting, and you can turn it off.

How long it's kept, and how to remove it. Everything stays until you remove it. Setting something aside never deletes it; it only moves it out of view. To delete something for good, open Set aside and choose Delete forever. You'll be asked to confirm twice. It's then removed from your phone and, if you keep things in iCloud, from iCloud and every device. Menu → Storage → Clear removes stored photos and videos to free space; your captures stay. Deleting the app removes what's stored on your phone. A copy in your iCloud stays there until you delete it, in the Files app or in Settings → [your name] → iCloud. We can't delete it for you, because we can't reach it. Exports and backups you've saved are yours to keep or delete.

Exports and backups are files you create and choose where to send. Once you give one to another service, such as another AI, that service's policy applies.

Children. Keep to My Self collects nothing from anyone, including children. It needs no account and asks for no personal details.

Changes. If this policy changes, the update will be made on this page and the date below will change.
