What is a philosopher?

Almost everyone has this line in the wrong place — and the wrong place is knowledge.

One who has built such reasoning from his own material, without borrowing another’s answer, and relies on it — acts on it when the cost of being wrong is real.

The line is not knowledge.

A scholar carries what was thought; a philosopher reasons where nothing has been settled.
