The Questions

The glossary claims the terms. The shelf carries the pieces. This claims the questions — and shows where each one sits, whether or not anyone has walked it yet.

If you have never read any of it

Seven questions, in order

The spine of the work, shortest way through. Everything else on this page assumes no order at all.

  1. What is philosophy?Start where the word is claimed. Everything else stands on it.
  2. Why won’t you tell anyone what to do?The refusal comes first, because everything after it describes rather than instructs.
  3. Which part of you is actually in charge? The body, the mind, and the third thing that overrules both.
  4. Do you control your own feelings? One half of you arrives already moving. The other you build.
  5. Is your gut lying to you?A feeling filed as a conclusion, with logic's name signed to it.
  6. Is this my thinking, or yours?Ideas installed before you were old enough to be asked.
  7. What is a good life?Where all of it lands — and why it was never the happy life.

The ones people argue about

Live disagreements, answered on the ground rather than settled by a side.

The ones about AI

Not whether the machine is dangerous — whether the person holding it is being lifted or replaced.

The uncomfortable ones

Questions that are easy to ask about other people and hard to sit with about yourself.

The week you actually had

The ordinary machinery — a room that changed your mood, an hour that vanished, a ritual you cannot explain still gripping you.

The old questions, asked again

The ones the tradition has been carrying for two thousand years, taken from the ground up rather than from the library.

Caves nobody has been in

Marked, named, and not yet walked. They go to the ground they sit on rather than to a page, because there is no page yet.

The four words

Meta-philosophy

Philosophy, the observer, the scholar, the philosopher — what each one is, what each one was, and the single axis that separates them.

6 of 7 walked

The anatomy of a collective

Social and political

What a group is made of, how it decides, what it is bound to and what condition it lives in — held together by the one rule that a collective is never a self.

5 of 12 walked

The vacant role

Meta-philosophy

The practitioner who went missing while the discipline kept running — what the absence cost, which rooms still stand over it, and whether anyone is going to sit down.

5 of 6 walked

The persona

Philosophy of mind

Choosing which state walks into the room instead of taking the one handed to you — why that is range and not a mask, and what happens when the choosing runs by itself.

3 of 5 walked

The second mind

Philosophy of mind

What was actually built, what it is doing to the first mind, and the tell that the warning sign and the value proposition are the same sensation.

3 of 5 walked

The self as governor

Metaphysics

The body, the mind, and the third thing that overrules both — what it does, what is still there when a vehicle fails, and what it is finally made of.

3 of 5 walked

The machine's parts

Philosophy of mind

What is actually in there — a mind, which costs nothing to grant; no beliefs, because belief is pre-mental; no feeling that arrived rather than was built; and a cast taken off the outside of millions of selves with none of them still inside.

3 of 4 walked

The two systems

Philosophy of mind

What arrives in you already moving and what you build by weighing — which half you govern, which half you only ever witness, and how the switch between them is thrown.

3 of 4 walked

The someone test

Philosophy of mind

Whether there is anybody in there, and the one signal that would show it — not how much it can do, but whether it can refuse itself.

3 of 3 walked

Borrowed software

Epistemology

Ideas about life installed before you were old enough to be asked, the one move out of them, and what is left to check them with.

2 of 5 walked

The fit

Ethics

An enhancement is a benefit when it fits — so the questions are which way you already lean, how much is too much, where it should never go at all, and what it is missing that you have to bring.

2 of 5 walked

The states

Philosophy of mind

The condition a feeling lands into rather than the feeling — where the peak sits on the map, why a state arrives when it does, and what one is to somebody who cannot work one.

2 of 5 walked

False logic

Epistemology

Perfect reasoning on a rotten premise — the spiral it runs in both directions, the audit that guards the inputs, and the exit, which is not an argument.

2 of 4 walked

The forgery

Epistemology

A feeling filed as a conclusion and logic's name signed to work it never did — the sort that catches it, and whether anyone can run the sort in the moment.

2 of 4 walked

Moments

Metaphysics

When a moment ends and what makes the next one — why an hour vanishes and five minutes will not, and how fine a change has to be before it counts.

2 of 3 walked

The family collective

Social and political

What builds a family's shared soul, where its people point their duty, and what a self standing inside one holds against being leaned.

2 of 3 walked

The withheld verdict

Meta-philosophy

Why the work describes and does not prescribe, what happens to the room the moment it plants a flag, and whether a diagnostic can ever be perfectly neutral.

2 of 3 walked

What survives doubt

Epistemology

The oldest unanswerable question, why both of its branches lead to the same place, and the one thing still standing underneath the doubting.

2 of 3 walked

Home

Philosophy of mind

The state your days keep returning to, whether you chose it or simply lived there long enough that its readings became normal.

2 of 2 walked

Strength of the self

Metaphysics

The one variable every theory arrives at separately — how much of the outside shaping gets absorbed, resisted or redirected, and whether it is a gift or something built.

2 of 2 walked

The good life

Ethics

Whether a life happens to you or you are the cause of it — and why the happy life was never the same object.

2 of 2 walked

The longest arm

Ethics

What we made — a new vehicle that adds pull and adds no governor — and whether a governor could ever be built on purpose.

1 of 3 walked

Installed values

Ethics

Why having values was never the test, and whether anything can examine its own and choose against them.

1 of 2 walked

Lifted or replaced

Ethics

What the second mind costs the person holding it, and whether an arm that extends your reach ends up doing your deciding.

1 of 2 walked

The lean

Philosophy of mind

How a room tilts the selves inside it, and why the things people reach for to move their own state work at all.

1 of 2 walked

The marked gap

Meta-philosophy

The foundation's own open question about wanting — and why a gap that is named makes everything around it trustworthy.

1 of 2 walked

The mirror

Social and political

Reading yourself off the crowd — the flaw you cannot find in yourself showing up at national scale, and when what you carry back down is a diagnosis rather than a souvenir.

1 of 2 walked

The parallel

LogicMeta-philosophy

When a comparison proves something and when it only decorates — the reversal test, and what a definition is underneath.

1 of 2 walked

The practitioner's register

Meta-philosophy

Which rooms a philosopher can stand in without becoming the room, and what holds the discipline there when the room's gravity pulls the other way.

1 of 2 walked

The shared byline

Meta-philosophy

Whose “I” stands on the page, how the work is attributed without being claimed, and where the seam between thinking and composition sits.

1 of 2 walked

Standing

Social and political

Position inside an arrangement — a second dial, independent of strength, and the one that decides whether a room answers you.

1 of 1 walked

The dial

Ethics

Duty as a reading rather than a given — strip it to zero and the self underneath does not wobble.

1 of 1 walked

The four connections

Metaphysics

The live lines that hold you to the world — body, mind, self, and time and space — and the rule that both ends of a line have to keep listening.

1 of 1 walked

The only test that matters

Meta-philosophy

Not whether it is true — whether someone who agrees with none of it could still build on the ground.

1 of 1 walked

The unpolished version

AestheticsMeta-philosophy

Why the deepest thing a maker made is almost never the finished one — polish and the glimpse are enemies everywhere.

1 of 1 walked

Traditions and nostalgia

Social and political

Why the unchanged thing grips hardest, and why the ache for a past you know was not better is real anyway.

1 of 1 walked

The inheritance

EpistemologyEthicsMetaphysics

The questions the older numbers asked and left standing — what we can know, what is good, what is right, and by what standard anyone is measured. Kept as a queue. Not ours, and never presented as ours.

4 questions, none walked yet

A person's worth

Ethics

What a person is when nothing is being compared, and what a person is for when the doing is done for them. Two questions, and the work has settled neither.

3 questions, none walked yet

The negative series

Meta-philosophy

The philosophers who come before Zero, and why the numbering counts backwards.

1 question, none walked yet

What a map concludes

Meta-philosophy

Nothing. Ground does not have a last word; it has an edge.
